Global energy transformation a roadmap to 2050. Increased use of renewable energy, combined with intensified electrification, could prove decisive for the world to meet key climate goals by 2050. Thanks to the European Green Deal, Europeans enjoy cleaner air and more energy efficient products and homes. It would also be more economically, socially and environmentally beneficial than the path resulting from current plans and policies. Replacing polluting coal, gas and oil-fired power with energy from renewable sources, such as wind or solar, would dramatically reduce carbon emissions. Around two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions stem from energy production and use, which are at the core of efforts to combat climate change. Increased use of renewable energy, combined with intensified electrification, could prove decisive for the world to meet key climate goals by 2050. The gap between observed emissions and the reductions that are needed to meet internationally agreed climate objectives is widening. RAK's roadmap could redefine its economic landscape. May 18, 2021 ยท The global pathway to net zero emissions by 2050 detailed in this report requires all governments to significantly strengthen and then successfully implement their energy and climate policies. They are also drawing on more renewable energy sources to power their lives.
